NEW!!! Introducing Terracycle™ Drink Pouch Bridage!

TerraCycle™ is helping students and teachers earn cash for our school!  For every empty drink pouch turned in, TerraCycle will donate 2 cents to Columbus Elementary School PTA for playground improvements and other PTA-sponsored programs.  TerraCycle then upcycles the waste packaging material into fun new products which are sold at major retailers, stopping the products from ending up in landfills and polluting the environment. It’s a win for our school, it’s a win for the environment, and it’s a win for you!

There are two ways to contribute!
AT SCHOOL: Students who bring any brand drink pouch in their lunchbox will be able to remove the straw and empty the pouch at the end of their lunch and place in the specially marked collection bin (just like they do with their milk cartons).

FROM HOME:  collect emptied drink pouches at home - remove the straw and any remaining juice then put in a ziplock baggie.  When the baggie is full, have your child bring to the school and place in the same container in the cafeteria.  If you have A LOT to turn in, email columbuspta@yahoo.com and we can arrange a special "pick up" of the pouches.

How can I help?

How you can help now:  Start collecting drink pouches, Box Tops and Campbell’s labels to drop off at the school and sign up for escrip at www.escrip.comPlayground

What we do:   Organize a variety of events & activities that raise money for class fieldtrips, new playground equipment, special assemblies and guest presentations, mini-grants, art supplies, student rewards, and more – all for the benefit of our kids & our school.

How we do it:  Jog-a-thon, used book sales, spring carnival, t-shirt sales,
collection of Box Tops for Education & Campbell Soup Labels, gift catalog sales, and fundraisers with local businesses.

Why volunteers are needed:  To make copies, sort & count boxtops/soup labels, stuff envelopes, pick up donations from area businesses, assist with art projects in classrooms, co-host Thank You Thursdays, set-up for PTA events, stuff Wednesday folders, make a plate of brownies for teacher appreciation week, etc.

When we meet:  The 2nd Tuesday of each month in the school library at 6:30 p.m. (Childcare can be provided).
