2nd Grade Field Trip: Insecta Inspecta!
Thanks to MHS science teacher Jared Larson, his students, and the Education Foundation, we once again had the opportunity to take our second graders to Miller Woods. Students experienced being entomologists by observing insects in meadow, pond, and forest habitats. It was a wonderful, hands-on experience to enrich our classroom study of insects this spring. Colonial Day
All 5th graders are learning about American history this year! After learning about colonial life in the 1600’s, they had the opportunity to participate in a few colonial activities including butter making, candle making, cross-stitching and writing with ink and feather quills. Learning about history is so much fun! Slideshow
Artist in Residence
Our artist this year is Eileen Cotter Howell. she will be teaching the fine art of watercolor painting. Each class will receive three hours of instruction, one hour a day, three consecutive days in a row.
To help our children with this experience, we are asking parents to bring in flowers that may be blooming in their yards for “live”models. she will be here from March 7 through May 3. Please call the office if you can contribute.
PTA announced that our Jog-A-Thon was a success and we made over $5000.00. Thanks to all who supported our runner’s.
Kindergarten led us in a chant about Citizenship and we will be focusing on being good Grandhaven Citizens this month.
Our Running Club is really growing. Many children earned new charms for their chains. Our 1 Marathon runners, Laney Hyder, Mercedes Moye and Max Sinclair pulled our 2 Marathon runner Caleb May, into the assembly in a decorated wagon. They all wore fancy hats and received awards for their outstanding endurance. Marathon T-shirts will be given away to all Marathon Runners at the end of the year. |
