Grandhaven Elementary School has once again been recognized and honored by the state of Oregon as a MODEL school for our performance in students’ academic growth on state assessments last spring. This is the highest level that a school can achieve. Grandhaven students are performing above both the district and state averages. Congratulations to the staff, students and parents for their hard work and efforts. We will continue to focus on implementing research based instructional strategies and using common formative assessment aligned to the Common Core standards.
As parents, we hope you will continue to help by monitoring your student’s homework, ensuring your student’s regular attendance, participating in parent-teacher conferences and volunteering at school.
Grandhaven Elementary is now the largest elementary school in the district, with an enrollment of about 560 students. We appreciate your cooperation and willingness to help us create a smooth start to the students’ school day by dropping them off to the playground before school starts so they can line up and come in with their classmates at 7:50AM. This gives teachers the time prior to that to prepare for the school day.
Special choir will be meeting on Thursdays from 2:30 to 3:30PM.
This program is open to all fourth and fifth grade students. Mrs. Friar will rehearse with them in the gym. There is no charge for Special Choir even though it is during Success Now.
We continue to ask that if you enter the building you sign in at the office and pick up and wear a badge. The badge tells our staff that you have signed in at the office. We also ask that when you park your vehicle at the front entrance it is only for drop off or pickup. Please do not park vehicles along the curb and leave them unattended. If emergency services were called to the building they would be unable to get to the entrance of the building.
