Building Lego Robots

For three weeks in April, third grade students at Grandhaven built and programed LEGO robots. The culminating event was on April 19th at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum.

Teams had two opportunities to score as many points as they could. In the end, The Eagles took first in the jamboree and all the students had a great time!"

Watchdog Dads

A special thanks to our watchdog dads who help out at grandhaven. Our dads guard the front doors, help with recess duty & lunch duty, fix things around the school & show up when we have special needs. We truly appreciate all that you do for our school!

May's local food item in school lunch is mushrooms from Yamhill County Farm in Yamhill, OR

Bill Darm began this mushroom farm in 1985 and passed it onto his son, Bob, who has been running it ever since. Over the years, Bob has been fine-tuning his compost mixture to produce the ideal environment for mushrooms.
With the assistance of Grower Leonides Pérez, Yamhill County Mushrooms has grown into a successful, sustainably run organization that employs more than 70 people. Yamhill County Mushrooms grows white button, Crimini and Portabella mushrooms.

White button mushrooms are the most popular mushroom, representing about 90 percent of mushrooms consumed in the United States. They have a fairly mild taste and blend well with almost anything. Their flavor intensifies when cooked. They can be sautéed or cooked any way or enjoyed raw in salads. Try them sliced and sautéed on pizza, in pasta, on quesadillas or cheese burgers.
