The original home of the McMinnville Mustangs was built in 1915 and it was the first junior high school in Oregon. The building still stands today as the home of McMinnville School District’s second high school, the Media Arts and Communications Academy, or MACA.
In 1957 a new school was built on 15th Street and the Mustangs moved there for one year. The following year the Mustangs traded buildings with the high school students and moved into the old high school building located where Baker Shopping Center now stands.
In 1977 plans were made to build a shopping center at the site of McMinnville Junior High School and a new building was built for the Mustangs at 1175 E. 19th Street. We became McMinnville Middle School in 1986 and when Duniway Middle School was built in 1993, our name was changed to Fred Patton Middle School.
Patton is a 6th, 7th and 8th grade school. We have three gyms, three computer labs, a large library, and a large commons area with a stage. We also offer breakfast and lunch programs for students.
